What makes Elemental different from a standard vitamin C serum?

Most vitamin C serums contain just one antioxidant. Elemental combines retinol (1.0%), THD Ascorbate (a stable vitamin C derivative) and vitamin E — five antioxidants working synergistically for broader resilience against environmental damage.

How do I use Elemental Vitamin A+C+E Serum?

Apply in the evening, after cleansing and before a heavier moisturiser like Metamorphis. Introduce gradually — 2–3 nights a week initially, given the retinol content.

Can I use this if I have sensitive skin?

This is one of our more active formulas due to the 1.0% retinol content. Sensitive skin should introduce it slowly, or start with a gentler option like Immortelle.

Is it safe during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

We don't recommend this product during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to its retinol content. Consider Revive Rescue Elixir as a bakuchiol-based alternative in the meantime.

How long until I see results?

Most people notice brighter, more even skin tone within 2–4 weeks. Continued improvement in fine lines and texture typically builds over 8–12 weeks.

Why does this contain both vitamin C and retinol — aren't they supposed to be used separately?

The idea that vitamin C and retinol "cancel each other out" is a common misconception. Formulated together at stable, compatible concentrations, they work on different, complementary pathways.

Can I use this with an AHA or BHA exfoliant?

We'd suggest alternating nights rather than combining — Elemental already has active exfoliating and cell-turnover effects from its retinol content.

Is it vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes — every Ocinium formula is vegan and cruelty-free, with no animal testing anywhere in the supply chain.

What does the EWG rating on the ingredient list actually mean?

The EWG rating refers to each individual ingredient's independently assessed safety profile, rated 1 (lowest concern) to 10 (highest) — it's not a rating of the finished product as a whole.

How should I store it?

Keep in a cool, dark place — both retinol and vitamin C degrade with heat and light exposure.

Where does Elemental fit in my routine if I'm using other Ocinium products?

Elemental is a PM serum step. Layer it after cleansing, before a heavier moisturiser like Metamorphis.

How much should I use, and how long will the 30mL bottle last?

A little goes further than you'd expect — most people find their 30mL bottle lasts 6–10 weeks with regular use. Using more than the guided amount won't improve results and just uses product faster.

What if I don't see results after a few weeks?

Skin cell turnover takes time, so most actives need consistent use over several weeks before results are visible — stopping and restarting resets that clock. If you've used it consistently for the timeframes above and aren't seeing change, book a consultation with Cassandra to check it's the right formula for your specific skin.

Should I patch test before using this?

If you have reactive, compromised or previously sensitised skin, we'd recommend a 24-hour patch test on your inner forearm before applying to your face. Most people won't need to, but it's a sensible precaution if you're unsure how your skin will respond.
